12 days From/To Marrakech
Discover Ait Bougumez valley called “happy valley, climb M’goun mountains, The second highest peak in North Africa. Magnificent views from the top, crossing many villages where you meet the friendly Berbers, superb terraced fields, the spectacular M’goun canyon and a lovely rose’s valley.
Easy to moderate trek, 6 hours walking per day except the M’goun climb(9hours), the mules carry your luggage and a Berber cook prepares your meals. 3 hotel nights in Marrakech, 1 night guesthouse, overnight in tent during trekking.
Program
Day 1
Arrival to Marrakech, Meet and transfer to the hotel. Overnight hotel with breakfast.
Day 2
Drive eastwards to Azilal town, visit Ouzoud waterfalls on the way. Afternoon we cross tizi n’oughbar pass 2200 m high in order to reach Ait Bougmez valley called « Happy valley ». Overnight family guesthouse at 1900 m. 5h to drive.
Day 3
Meet our local team of muleteers and start trek along happy valley, Camp Arouss sheepfold at 2200 m. 6h30 to walk.
Day 4
Steep uphill to Aghouri Mountain, From the ridge beautiful view to Mgoun range. Down to green plateau of Talkaddit, the base camp of Mgoun 2900 m. 4h to walk. Afternoon free.
Day 5
Early in the morning, climb to the top of Mgoun, 3h30 to reach the ridge and then 1h30 on the ridge to be on the top 4068 m. Spectacular view to the south. Down hills to the north slope. Overnight at oulilimt valley 2700 m. 9h to 10h to walk.
Day 6
Easy day along Oulilimt valley with nice rock formation, Overnight nearby Aflafal spring at 2200 m. 4h to walk. Afternoon free.
Day 7
One of the trip highlight to discover one of the most isolated valley in Morocco, Ouzighimt valley, located between two passes of about 3000 m high each, these valley can be isolated for a couple of months during winter. Beautiful small Berber village and a nice local dress for women…Overnight Imi n’Irkt at 1950 m. 6h to walk.
Day 8
An unforgettable day through Mgoun canyon, Today you have to use your water shoes. Amazing limestone cliff, small terraced fields surrounded by bamboo and poplars. Camp at Tiranimine village 1850 m. 6h to walk.
Day 9
Last day to walk in Mgoun river where you enjoy the famous Valley Of Rose, Kasbahs, pink rose called Damascus Rose, the Berbers of Ait Sedrate tribe…. Camp at Boutghrar village. 6h to walk.
Day 10
End trekking, Drive by minibus along the road of thousands Kasbahs to Ouarzazate. Stop in Ait Ben Haddou ( Unesco world heritage site) for visit and lunch. Afternoon back to Marrakech via Tizi n’Tichka pass. 6h to drive. Overnight hotel.
Day 11
Free in Marrakech, Overnight hotel.
Day 12
Transfer from hotel to airport. Departure.
